Your home holds your routines, your memories and your independence. The bathroom shouldn't be the room that threatens it.

Planning ahead isn't "getting old". It's being smart
Many of the homeowners we meet are active, healthy and in their 50s or 60s. They simply know that a bathroom designed for the next 20 years is a better investment than one designed for the last 20. Updating now means:
- Choosing on your own timeline, not in a rush after a fall or surgery
- Getting the look you want, with safety built in quietly
- Staying in your home longer, on your own terms
A safer bathroom that doesn't look medical
Low-threshold walk-in showers
Replace a tub you have to climb over with a shower you simply walk into. See also: Tub-to-shower conversions
Built-in or fold-down shower seats
Sit while you wash or shave your legs. It's comfortable for anyone and reassuring on days when balance isn't perfect.
Grab bars that blend in
Installed into solid support where your hands naturally reach. They come in finishes that match your faucet, so they read as design, not equipment.
Slip-resistant floors & bases
Textured surfaces give your feet better grip when things get wet.
Handheld shower heads
They make rinsing easy from a seated position and are handy for anyone helping a loved one bathe.
Smart storage & comfortable heights
Niches and shelves at a reachable height mean no bending or stretching for shampoo.
Making a bathroom safe for elderly parents
If you've watched Mom or Dad grip the towel bar to climb out of the tub, you're not alone. Many of our calls come from sons and daughters who want their parents safe without taking away their independence or their pride.
Here's how we help families:
- Respectful conversations. We talk with your parent, not around them, and explain options in plain language.
- Join from anywhere. You can be at the consultation in person or by phone.
- Clear quotes for the whole family. We can send pricing to you and your parent so you can decide together.
- Quick installs. Installs typically take about two days, which matters when a parent has only one bathroom.
- A crew you'd trust in your parent's home. Our customers often mention how polite, careful and tidy our installers are.
A simple bathroom-safety checklist for your parent's home: 1. Can they step in and out of the tub without holding onto something that isn't a grab bar? 2. Is there somewhere to sit while bathing? 3. Are floors slippery when wet? 4. Can they reach soap and shampoo without bending or stretching? 5. Is the path to the bathroom well lit at night?
If you answered "no" or "not sure" to any of these, a free visit can help you see your options.
What it costs

Help paying for bathroom safety upgrades
We get asked about this often, so here's an honest summary. (Programs change. Always confirm directly with the program or plan.)
- Original Medicare generally does not pay for walk-in showers, tub-to-shower conversions or grab bars. Medicare treats them as home modifications or "self-help" items, not durable medical equipment.
- Medicare Advantage plans sometimes include extra "bathroom safety" or home-modification benefits, often limited to certain members or a set allowance. Check your plan's Evidence of Coverage or call the number on your card.
- Veterans may qualify for VA home-modification grants such as the HISA grant. Ask your VA care team.
- Clermont County residents age 60+ can contact Clermont Senior Services about its Home Safety Repair Program. It provides minor home repairs and modifications, such as bathroom grab bars, to eligible homeowners, based on program guidelines and available funding. Homeowners may be responsible for material costs, and grant help may be available in low-income or hardship cases. Contact them to ask whether you qualify.

“I highly recommend Blessed Bath Co. to replace an old tub and shower with a walk in shower. They were very responsive to our needs and the price was right. Derek and Randy did a great job and it took less than a day and a half to accomplish this feat.”

“I had my shower/tub combo replaced with a walk-in shower with a built-in seat and grab bars. Having only one bathroom in my house I was concerned about the length of time it would take to complete the job. Dawson assured me that job should only take two days barring any unforeseen complications. By the end of day one the water was turned back on. Derek, who did the actual remodel, was very professional and did a great job. I couldn't be happier with how everything turned out. I highly recommend this company as they deliver quality products and work at a reasonable price and they are just nice people to deal with.”

“I can't say enough good things about my experience with Blessed Bath. Derrick and Randy were so nice and respectful. A pleasure to have around the house. They explained every step, cleaned the area at the end of the day and when the job was done showed me how everything works. I highly recommend this company. They are very reasonably priced.”

Frequently asked questions
Does Medicare cover walk-in showers?
Original Medicare (Parts A and B) generally does not cover walk-in showers, tub-to-shower conversions or grab bars, because they're considered home modifications rather than durable medical equipment. Some Medicare Advantage plans offer limited bathroom-safety or home-modification benefits for eligible members, so check your plan's Evidence of Coverage. Veterans and Clermont County seniors may have other options (see above).
What's the best shower for a senior?
For most people, a low-threshold walk-in shower with a seat, grab bars, a handheld shower head and a slip-resistant floor. The right setup depends on mobility, the bathroom's layout and personal taste, and we'll walk you through it.
Will a walk-in shower make my bathroom look like a hospital?
Not at all. We choose finishes, seats and grab bars that match your style. Most guests will just see a nice, updated shower.
I'm only in my 50s. Is it too early?
It's the ideal time. You can plan on your own schedule, choose exactly what you like, and enjoy the comfort for years before you ever "need" it.
How long will my parent be without a shower?
Installs typically take about two days. We'll plan around their routine, and you can ask us anything before install day.
Will you pressure us to buy?
No. Our owner started Blessed Bath Company to offer honest work at fair prices without high-pressure sales. You'll get a clear quote and time to decide.
