Before install day
Once you say yes, we order your walls, base and fixtures and set a date that works for you. It helps to know where your main water shut-off is. We will ask you to show us when we arrive.
The day, in order
- Derek and Randy arrive. They go over the job with you and confirm the materials.
- We protect your home. Drop cloths go down, and we locate the main water shut-off.
- Demo. The old tub or shower comes out, and we haul the debris to our trailer.
- New plumbing. We run all the new plumbing.
- Repairs. We make the repairs the job needs, such as the subfloor or a small amount of mold. Anything beyond our scope needs a professional, and we will tell you plainly.
- Leak test. We test the plumbing on day one, before the shower pan goes in and before the walls go up.
A typical two days
Day 1. Demo, new plumbing, plumbing tested, shower pan set and backer board.
Day 2. Wall panels, then accessories such as niches, grab bars, a seat and the door. Then caulk and clean-up: drop cloths up, the inside cleaned, and the outside too if we made a mess.
Installs typically take about two days. Every bathroom is a little different, so we will go over the schedule with you before we start.
The walk-through
Before we leave, we run the shower with you and confirm there are no leaks. We show you how everything works.
When can I shower?
Typically about 24 hours. We will tell you the exact time for your shower at the walk-through. See How Long Before You Can Use Your New Shower?
Questions to ask at your visit
- What time will the crew arrive, and about when will they finish each day?
- Is there anything you need from me before and during the work?
- Where will you park and put the old materials?
One bathroom in the house?
You are not alone, and it is very common. Plan ahead for where you will wash up for a day or two. Our prep checklist helps. See also our full install day page.
